PHILADELPHIA &#; On June 5, , Philly kicked off its annual celebration of Gay Pride Month, the only way such a fabulous bunch of peeps could. With a parade of tens of thousands of Philly fab. through downtown and onto the Gayborhood!

For the last 50 years, Philly Pride has grown in beauty and solidarity into what we see today under recent organizing leadership. It&#;s been a long road from those small but arrogant beginnings in on Chestnut Street, into the glorious Goliath celebrating their reality 50 years later!

People came from across this superb city to celebrate life, individuality, sexuality, and identity.

For many, the Philly Pride Parade is a family affair, and children of all ages were welcome and made to sense safe, loved, and honored for who they were.

A group of teens came out to celebrate themselves, knowing their identity and sexuality will be accepted and appreciated at the Philly Pride Parade, and they will be fully loved for who they are. Something that, when I was their age, I couldn&#;t course, you couldn&#;t start a Gay Pride Parade without Bikers,

As thousands of colorfully dressed people proved as they marched through Adj City into the Gayborhood on Sunday, Pride is back in the town of Philadelphia.

The march came after the implosion last year of Philly Pride Presents, the group that for three decade ran the annual event. After accusations of racism and transphobia ripped it apart, a new group of activists came together to try to create something new. One of the mandates of the reborn celebration was that it not involve police — and the goal was largely met.

After speakers began the event next to Independence Mall, the PHL Pride March kicked off at 5th and Arch streets after a two-year hiatus. It was the 50th anniversary of the first Pride march in Philly, and it came at a time when solidarity was welcome and needed.

Over the past year, there have been a record number of anti-LGBTQ and anti-trans laws introduced in various U.S. states, putting many members of the community in a state of uncert

Celebrating Our Communities Flag Raising

On Friday, June 3 at noon, the Office of LGBT Affairs will host its annual Flag Raising Event at City Hall to kick off Pride season in Philadelphia. In addition to raising the iconic More Color, More Pride flag; this year&#;s program theme, Celebrating our Communities, will include speakers from across our LGBTQ+ community sharing the many ways we celebrate our pride.

Speakers will highlight their connection with upcoming community events throughout Pride month and beyond, including Disability Pride, Immigrant Heritage Month, the Philadelphia Trans Wellness Conference, and more!

While the full month is full of festivities everywhere, Philadelphia will be celebrating it's annual Pride Weekend June 3 to June 5.

Mayor’s Office of LGBT Affairs flag raising

Join the Mayor’s Office of LGBT Affairs while they increase their More Color, More Pride flag at Philadelphia City Hall.

This year’s theme is Celebrating Our Communities. Speakers at the event will include members from across the LGBTQ+ community who will contribute how they celebrate pride. If you’re unable to attend the event in person, it will be streamed via the organization's Instagram page.
