Prague, picturesquely situated on the Vltava River, is the capital of the Czech Republic. In the 14th century it became the heart of the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation under Emperor Charles IV and a center of art, culture and politics. This period saw the establishment of the first university in Central Europe, the laying of the foundation stone for the St. Vitus Cathedral at Prague Castle, the building of the Charles Bridge and the creation of the New Town.

Jakub Jankto: Czech Republic international comes out as gay in social media statement
Czech Republic international Jakub Jankto has become the highest-profile current male footballer to announce he is gay.
Jankto, who plays for Sparta Prague on loan from Getafe, revealed his sexuality in a post on Twitter, saying: "I no longer want to conceal myself."
The year-old midfielder has 45 caps for his country and has previously played in Italy for Sampdoria and Udinese.
In a video on Twitter, Jankto said: "Hi, I'm Jakub Jankto. Prefer everybody else, I own my strengths, I own my weaknesses. I contain a family, I hold my friends. I include a job, which I have been doing as best as I can for years, with seriousness, professionalism, and passion.

Openly gay man to represent Czechia in Eurovision
In , the Czech Republic will be represented at Eurovision by year-old Adam Pavlovčín, known as ADONXS.
This year, the Czech Republic will be represented at the Eurovision Noun Contest by year-old Slovak singer, activist and openly gay man Adam Pavlovčín - ADONXS.
ADONXS has been involved in several campaigns in support of the LGBTQI+ community, aimed at increasing the visibility of queer people. In addition, he was the meet of an advertising campaign for LGBTQI+s and fought for a change in the dictionary definition of the word “love” - he advocated for the definition to include unlike sexual orientations and genders.
ADONXS came out to his parents as gay two weeks after falling "madly in love" with an year-old boy.
