Good omens gay
Good Omens is queerbait.
Here me out- I'm only discussing the posts I'm seeing of people SAYING it's Queerbait and I'm mixed about it but here me out.
People are valid for being wary, I'm assuming most people on tumblr might be younger- but older users enjoy myself have been baited with tons of shows etc and we're burned and tired.
So heres a fact, Media is aware that the LGBT is a big audience and wants to cater to them BUT most countries are anti-lgbt making their content cancelled it's a lose-lose.
So Queer-Subtext, hiding queer coding characters.
So what is Queer bait becuase I've seen most people mis-using it some movies are queerbait while others are queer-coded.
So Queerbait is when a company/person/writer etc whose in charge of a project CLAIMS LGBT content in their demonstrate [JK rowlig saying dumbledore was gay but failed to deliver with her fantastic beasts. Thats Bait]
but with no evidence and just a vaugue statment it's used ONLY to lure in audiances and when said audience realises they were forced to sit th
In the near present you, dear Nichers, will likely be seeing a lot about the BBC/Amazon mini-series of Good Omens. You probably already have—its actually a little scary how many non-internet people I know whove asked me if Ive heard about this new show enjoy I dont have every page of the novel inscribed in my brain forever. Theres just a few quick things I, a longtime and vocal fan of the novel, want to make sure everyone knows before it begins.
- Good Omens is a book by Sir Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman about the apocalypse, published in
- It is a terribly funny book.
- It is also deeply moving.
But all this is besides the point, because, most importantly:
- It is gay.
Yes, yes, the kid Antichrist and his friends are cute, theres some very clever Douglas Adamsian narrative, and friendship saving the day always gets me a teary-eyed, but lets be clear: Im here for the angel and demon in love, as are at least half of us, judging by the AO3 stats.
And honestly, dear Nichers, thats what youre here for, right? To comprehend if its gay? Skillfully con
Good Omens, Queerbaiting And Death Of The Author - Quill’s Scribbles
I confess this is the most reluctant I’ve ever been to write a Scribble. When this topic came up, I remember just groaning and putting my head in my hands because I knew that, due to the nature of what I tend to write about on this blog and the reality that I’m an out and out biromantic demisexual queerbo, people would be asking me to contribute to the discourse. And honestly I don’t particularly want to. I don’t get to enjoy many films and TV shows anymore thanks to the industry doing their very best to ruin everything they touch. Can’t I just watch one fine TV show without being dragged into some ideological battle?
Okay. Guess I can’t really put this off any longer.
On the 31st May, the long awaited adaptation of Good Omens was released on Amazon Video. I thought it was quite good. Not perfect. There are some things I could criticise, but overall it was a worthy adaptation of the source material and it was very enjoyable to watch. And that seems to be the general consensus with both critics a
This review for Prime Videos Good Omens was written during the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors who are currently on strike, tv series like this one would not be achievable, and Autostraddle is grateful for the artists who do this work. On paper, Good Omens shouldn’t have delighted me as much as it has. Two male leads? A season one central plot involving Armageddon and Revelation’s end of days? As a queer Black female who spent the first 18 years of my life (Baptist Pre-k through 8th grade and an all-girls Catholic high school; a tale for another day) surrounded by biblical stories in one way or another, I don’t typically seek out religion in my media. Adequately, I am here to tell you that not only did I tumble in love with Good Omens’ male leads, Aziraphale and Crowley, but season two also delivers a sweet and tropey lesbian story that acts as a throughline and connection for the season’s many subplots.
At its core, Good Omens (based on the Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett book of the same name) is a lov
