Jake Cannavale felt "honored" to take on the role of Chris in American Sports Story: Aaron Hernandez.
"When you're acting as a member of any community that you're not a part of, you don't want to f- it up. You want to do it with respect, and you want to do it with grace," Cannavale, 29, told Us Weekly exclusively about the FX series. "It wasn't an intimidation thing, which is why I don't want to use the word pressure. It was definitely more of a very much appreciated invitation to work my ass off."
Because Chris is a fictional character and not based on anyone from Aaron's real life, Cannavale "absolutely" felt like he had some freedom to craft the part.
"Yes, there was no guy named Chris, but his role and the part that he plays … he's the one that offers a glimpse into the vulnerability and the softness and the yearning that come with what Aaron's repressing," the actor explained, noting that he felt a "responsibility" to acquire that right.

His previous film roles hold been quite significant, but in Ryan Murphys American Sports Story: Aaron Now that our collective obsession with our most recent Internet Boyfriend, Pedro Pascal, seems to be dying down a bit (I’ll treasure you forever, Pedrito) maybe its time we move our focus over to a newer, fresher verb. A New Year is the perfect time to fangirl (and, okay, slightly obsess) over a recent Latinx celebrity so, ladies, gentlemen, and gentlethems, examine this my official nomination of Josh Andrés Rivera as the new Latinx Internet Boyfriend. You might notice Rivera from his latest appearance on the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, where he played Sejanus Plinth, a dystopian-era activist-type who always stands up for what he believes in (no matter the cost) and the voice of reason (for a while, at least) in his best friend (and main antagonist in the film), Coriolanus Snow. Despite TBOSS being based on a work of fiction, Rivera’s portrayal of the District 2 native turned Capitol darling feels oddly relevant to the worlds current state.
