Taye Diggs is just a not many weeks away from making his debut as the first black man to take on the role of genderqueer rocker Hedwig in the Broadway revival of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Recently, Diggs sat down with “Entertainment Tonight” about the role and claimed that “I have a flaming gay man inside of me.”
Diggs opened up about the role with ET correspondent Janet Mock and explained that he’s learning about the difficulties of constantly getting dolled up.
“I&#;ve always told my friends I have a flaming gay man inside of me,” Diggs said. “She is coming out now! It&#;s fun and difficult. I don&#;t know how you girls do it in heels all day every day.”
Although Diggs’ decision to play Hedwig may still be a shock to some fans, Diggs explains that his five-year-old son, Walker, with ex Idina Menzel has no difficulty with seeing his dad in makeup and heels.
“[Walker] is so d&#; adjusted,” Diggs gushed. “He&#;s unfazed. I think he&#;s on the path of being a really cool adult.”

Taye Diggs was recently cast as the lead role in Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway, which makes him the first Black man to star in the role. TMZ caught up with him to chat about how he prepared for the role and he had a dry, but also amusing response.
When asked how he was prepping, he joked about having been a drag queen in high school, a male prostitution phase, and also being involved in “ass play,” before confirming that he was joking. Because y’all know people would have taken that and ran with it!
However, he ended the interview with, “I have a flaming homosexual inside me, and I’m excited to let it out.”

Taye Diggs gave fans a pleasant surprise last week when it was announced that he would become the first Black man to seize on the lead role of genderqueer rock star Hedwig in the Broadway revival of Hedwig and The Angry Inch. Not surprisingly, some fans were shocked that Diggs would play a genderqueer character and in a recent interview with the paparazzi, he decided to perform up the shock value with an even more jaw-dropping set of jokes.
In a new video posted by TMZ, Diggs can be seen being questioned by a photographer about preparing to play a gender-bending character. At first, Diggs gives a typical answer about learning his lines, but then he begins making shocking jokes about having explored homosexuality.
